The project “Renew” is located in Salem harbor in Massachusetts in the US, and aims to create an urban remediation proposal in the coastal area. The design provides a site that will integrate the city green system and enhance continuity, establish a new public space as a gateway for tourists from outside the city through ferry and become a new city scenic destination for people. Additionally, the proposal includes a plan for industrial transformation for a sustainable future. Within the demand of Designated Port Area Planning and Implementation strategy in Massachusetts, the site was designed for the function of recreation, transportation, connection, education, and ecology. We hope our design could finally contribute to the city’s abandoned land redevelopment and would be a good experiment for coastal improvement in the future.
