The NanjingNiushoushan Cultural Park has been established to collectively exhibit andpreserve the cultural treasures of Niushou Mountain – a centuries-old sacredBuddhist site in southern Nanjing containing historic monasteries, pagodas, andrelics of the Ming Dynasty.

Hassell受邀为总面积达80公顷的旅游公园制定了总体设计规划，随后又完成了中央公共领域的景观、广场和联结节点设计——为来参观的游客们营造出一种平和宁静的游览氛围，同时亦为该地区的未来发展奠定了坚实而敏锐的基础。

Hassellwas invited to develop a master plan for the entire 80-hectare tourist park,and later went on to design the landscape, plazas, and connections of thecentral public domain – establishing a serene welcome for visitors, and asensitive foundation for future development in the area.

Thedesign strives for a dignified balance, between ancient Buddhist traditions andcontemporary tourist expectations, in the creation of an immersive landscapeexperience that is guided by the spirit of Zen. Itinterprets Buddhist philosophies to deliver a thoughtfully-crafted parklandthat enhances visitor appreciation for life at Niushou Mountain – the culture,history and breathtaking scenery. The landscape program promotes low impacttourism and the value of a lifestyle in harmony with nature.

甫进入公园，游人们就会看到一面具有阐释说明功能的科滕钢材质的 “经文卷轴”；它以卷轴的形态，通过从一个空间流入到另一个空间的方式实现空间之间的连接；换句话说，它以视觉牵引的方式，引导游客在适应不同场地、不同空间多元变化的地貌的同时，去浏览这一系列的“禅宗”花园。作为花园景观游览的峰顶处，卷轴将沿着水景一路延伸到银龙湖广场。从这里，人们不仅可以在这一片极其宁静安谧的环境中放松身心的同时，亦能将湖与山的全景全貌尽收眼底。

Enteringthe parklands, visitors are visually guided through a series of 'Zen' gardensby an interpretive corten steel ‘scripture scroll’ that flows from one space tothe next, adapting to the site's changing landforms. The scroll contains thewater of the 'bright mirror path' and later opens out to provide a quiet momentto appreciate Bodhidharma's 'wall gazing' meditation. Asthe pinnacle of the garden tour, the scroll extends along the water to YinlongLake plaza. From this point, tourists can take in panoramic views of the lakeand mountains, while relaxing in the tranquil environment.

这个旅游公园的结构经过设计师的精心设计，以此来保持遗址的完整性，确保其保有能够按照佛教教义运行的能力。观景平台和休息节点被巧妙地嵌入整体氛围之中，同绿色基础设施整合于一处，最大限度地减少了视觉和环境影响，为子孙后代更好地保护了现有的景观资源。

Thetourist park is carefully structured to maintain the site's integrity, ensuringits ability to function according to Buddhist doctrines. Viewing platforms andrest points are sensitively embedded, and green infrastructure is integrated tominimise visual and environmental impacts and protect the sights for futuregenerations.

最终所有牛首山的景点都将从这个中央公共区域，沿着一系列具有高度连贯性、景观优化后的道路和长径而展露无遗；这些通路设计亦主要考虑到行人和骑者的使用和体验，为他们提供优先选择。

Ultimately,all Niushou Mountain's attractions will unfold from this central public domainalong with a series of well-connected, landscaped roads and trails that givepreference to pedestrians and cyclists.
