“燕居”小屋被认为是一处“退休之家”，这里是他们可以远离城市中心，尽情居住放松的地方。 Thehouse is thought as a retirement home, a place of disconnection and rest whereat the same time they can spend long periods out of town.
而因为顾虑到“燕居”其实是为一户大家庭的客户进行的定制设计，同时还需满足随时会有客人光顾的需求，设计师的最初愿景便是优先考虑房屋的隐私性，以及它所能提供给住户关于眺望其周遭自然风光的视野。 Takinginto account that the house was designed for a large family and with guests, wewanted the house to have privacy and views as a priority.
房屋的整体结构分成三个相对独立的使用空间，它们分别置于一个巨大的倾斜屋顶之下，在各司其职的同时呈现出视觉上的连贯性和。而设计师别出心裁地在三个使用空间的空隙之间，建造了一处带有顶篷的露台——而这一座露台在白天时段，将成为人们闲谈、休憩或举办派对等社交活动的互动场所。 Thehouse is organized into three independent volumes housed within a large slopingroof, the space between these three volumes generates a covered terrace thatbecomes the social place during the day.

整座建筑的每一处空间体积，都体现出对特定的功能和部分相关的开展项目的需要和期待做出了精准而全面的回应：包括房间方面，社交方面，以及厨房和相关服务；它们通过这个巨大屋顶的半开放式走廊形成紧密的联结，彼此交流，互相补充；不仅如此，该走廊还充当着一种全覆盖式露台，将室内外不同的使用空间实现一种整合。 Eachvolume responds to a function and part of the program, in one block are theroom, in another the social part and in another the kitchen and services. Thecommunication between these is done through covered and semi-open corridorspart of this large roof that also works as a covered terrace in each of theparts and as a space between interior and exterior.
