The project is located on a former peninsula, along the banks of the Seine, and marks the main entrance to the city via the Argenteuil Bridge. It is composed of a multifunctional program including commercial activities, housing and a cultural center. The cinema and the auditorium open onto a belvedere above the banks, allowing for all forms of live entertainment and other cultural, festive or leisure activities. These two facilities constitute a strong urban signal, marking the strategic position of the site and symbolizing the urban and architectural renewal of the city of Argenteuil. The identity of the Héloïse center is inspired by Monet’s view of the Argenteuil landscape, using materials and tones in harmony with the banks of the Seine and integrating light and reflections into the urban and landscaping design. The equipment of the cultural center distinguishes two materials according to the volumetries. The first volume is made of a stainless steel cladding with a bumpy surface to blend in with the surrounding image. This material, which will be available in polished, satin and matte versions, will ensure a very changing perception depending on the time of day and the season. The lower volume of the cinema is made of a double wooden mesh, one structural and the other finer ensuring the development of plants on the facades. The housing facades of the Boulevard Héloïse are deliberately more urban and treated in concrete with a careful finish and colored stain, in order to respond to the scale and urban density. The exterior spaces will be more intimate, with loggias placed on the corners of the volumes. The housing facades on the Seine will be treated in wood finish, with a peripheral balcony to take maximum advantage of the views on the Seine and to respond to the strong identity character of the theater and cinema.
