The architecture is based on the aesthetics of the environment and the local culture, and is designed to be the 'Banner of Three Sails', a symbol of the tenacity and pioneering spirit of climbing to the top and daring to be the first in the world, standing on the top of the 'Dragon Head' of the Island, the largest of the islands in Zhejiang Province. The white sail-like roof structure is shaped by the waves, sails and icebergs, corresponding to the spirit of the "three poles" of height, benchmark and flag respectively. It is a new scenic spot in local tourism economy and a dazzling artistic landmark.
The entrance follows a landscaped walkway that is anchored by a huge reef. The open space on the ground floor and the basement is a digital immersive 'mixed reality' interactive exhibition space on the history of Chinese folk exploration, which is used for mountaineering themed exhibitions and cultural salons. The exhibits are mainly thematic collections of mountaineering artefacts and video materials. The large glass façade sends the poetry of the sea into the interior with changing light and shadows, creating a folded space in dialogue with nature.
The second and third floors of the museum are dedicated to private communication and complementary leisure areas, with the north-west-facing floor plates projecting floor by floor and the interlocking podiums bringing the drama of the space to a constant climax. The top floor terrace offers an unparalleled view. The process of moving through interior space is like the emotions of conquering nature. From different perspectives on the environment, light and shade, and emotions to achieve multiple narratives and experiences design through the central revolving staircase. The building materials are mainly reinforced concrete, white exterior wall paint, aluminum alloy frame and ultra-white glass.
